University Library Suggestions

LCS playback speed, only audio is allowed to be played at a different speed, can you please extend that to the visual as well?

First of all thank you for listening to the students' suggestion to allow users with the ability to control playback speeds.

It is a very very useful feature and I can't thank you guys more for that.

However, when I choose the media playback speed at a speed that is x2 (twice the original speed), the video window stops working when the speed is other then 1.0.
i.e., only the audio content is allowed to be played at a different speed.

Therefore, may I suggest CATL and IS to allow the video window to be played at a higher speed?

Once again, thank you for listening to our previous feedback and provide us with this new LCS function

Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestion. The video will play back at the same rate the audio is playing back; but it takes time for the video to load, so with slower connections and increased load on the LCS (such as in the first week of semester) there may be some playback issues.

Hi IS Team, Just wanted to

Hi IS Team,

Just wanted to report that sound is only present on the left stereo track when playing at any speed other than 1.0

Do you think this might be a consequence of poor connection due to peak time? An interesting way for the software to conserve bandwidth that's for sure.

Kind regards,
Kieran

Hello Kieran, At the moment

Hello Kieran,

At the moment It is better to use the fast forward feature to find a point in the lecture you wish to view, rather than listening to the lecture at speed.

When you play the video at double speed, the player needs to load the video twice as fast in order to keep up. On lower bandwidth, this may cause some problems and you may need to pause the video and allow it to buffer.

You might find that the audio and video doesn't necessarily keep up when the feed isn't buffered fully.

Kind Regards
